There was a time when only models and actresses went nude for PETA. Now it looks like the animal rights group is using barely clad pregnant women to make its point. TMZ.com reports that an expectant mother, sporting only underwear, squatted on all fours in a cage in London to protest the cramped conditions into which humble pigs are forced.
I get the point, but, by using a pregnant woman, isn't PETA suggesting that pregnant women ARE pigs?

Every PETA near-naked person ad I've seen exploits the female body. I have never seen a PETA near-naked man ad. This is disappointing because it demonstrates that whomever is encouraging these kinds of demonstrations is narrow-minded enough to miss the fact that animals aren't the only ones that suffer from exploitation.
Actually, Steve-O, of Jackass fame, posed for a "I'd rather go naked..." ad for PETA
Here's a link - sorry it's a PETA blog
But you will notice that Steve-o is not in a cage or on his hands and knees, but is standing tall and flexing his manly muscles. If he was tied down to something or wearing some kind of ridiculous outfit, I might be more relieved.
Believe me, I see an exceedingly large difference between Steve-O's ad and the one in your blog. Just wanted to let you know that on ocassion they use men (a jackass in this case) too.
well, after all, it is mostly female animals being exploited: cows are raped & have their babies & their milk stolen, sows are forced into cramped pens where they can do nothing but stand, lay down, birth & nurse their young (which are stolen), hens are also forced into cramped quarters & have their eggs stolen from them. mare urine is used in various products, pretty much any female animal can be exploited for her eggs, milk, babies, placenta, urine, the list goes on.
hi, i just came across your blog. i don't think that PETA is suggesting in any way that they are "pigs". i agree that it is mostly female animals that are being exploited and used up until they can no longer walk or live. this ad makes a strong point, it looks horrible to see a pregnant human in place of the animal that most people wouldn't even look at twice. maybe someone out there who saw this will make the connection. any woman who has had a baby must understand how it would feel to be impregnated over and over and over and always have your babies taken away from you, and your breasts pumped until you are crippled with weakness (and then you get sold to a fast food joint?) wow. devastating.
